Efficacy in improving declarative memory in early Alzheimer’s disease

Randomised, cross-over, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 37 patients with mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer’s disease with an amnestic phenotype. Elevvo significantly increased slow-wave amplitude and was associated with improved declarative memory versus placebo.

Declarative memory

More word pairs remembered after the night

+0.44−0.44 ElevvoPlacebo

Mean word-pair retention. Significant difference versus placebo, p = 0.04.

Mechanism

Larger slow waves during stimulation

≈14.5 µV≈9 µV ElevvoPlacebo

Median slow-wave amplitude on the stimulation night versus the placebo night. Significant difference versus placebo, p < 10⁻⁶.
